Antonina Frolova MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis. She is a physician-scientist within the Center of Reproductive Health Sciences and has a translational research program focused on labor dystocia and mechanisms of uterine smooth muscle (myometrial) contractility. She has a strong interest in reducing the obstetric morbidity resulting from ineffective myometrial contractility and developing a more individualized approach to labor. Currently, one of her major research focuses is to determine how maternal obesity and dyslipidemia affect uterine contractility. She has complementary clinical, translational, and basic studies aimed at understanding the mechanisms underlying aberrant uterine contractility and labor progress among women with obesity.
