Vaidehi serves as the Chief Diagnostic Officer and Medical Director of the Clinical Laboratory at the New York Genome Center. Concurrently, she holds a academic position as a Professor of Pathology & Cell Biology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
In her role at NYGC, Vaidehi has been instrumental in establishing the clinical laboratory. She has played a pivotal role in the validation and launch of key tests such as Constitutional Genome Sequencing and Oncology Genome and Transcriptome sequencing. Vaidehi is the steering committee chair of the Medical Genome Initiative.
Specializing in clinical genome sequencing for rare diseases, Vaidehi has participated in a number of NIH-funded clinical research studies, including the NYCKidSeq, PrenatalSeq and the Undiagnosed Disease Network. Furthermore, her laboratory is an integral part of the Women’s Genetics Center, a collaboration between Columbia University Department of Ob/Gyn and New York Genome Center. The Women’s Genetics Center is committed to innovation, development, and implementation of new clinical genomic tests, aligning with the mission of the Columbia Department of OB/Gyn. The ultimate objective is to deliver the highest quality women’s healthcare services.
Vaidehi earned her Ph.D. in Genetics from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. Subsequently, she achieved an M.S. in Biostatistics from Columbia University. She holds Board certifications from the American Board of Medical Genetics in Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Genetics. She is also a fellow of the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomes.
