Amir Shamshirsaz MD is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist specialized in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Surgical Critical Care who holds certification as "Special Competence in Critical Care Echo Examination". He earned his medical degree from National University located In Tehran,Iran followed by completing an Obstetrics & Gynaecology residency program at George Washington University located In DC Subsequently ,he pursued further training whereby he accomplished both fellowship programs related to Maternal Fetal Medicine as well as Surgical Critical Care respectively from Baylor College Of Medicine . Presently he serves as an assistant professor in the department of Maternal Fetal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Shamshirsaz also holds the distinguished position as "Co-director of Placenta Accreta Spectrum Care Team" and "Co-director of Maternal Critical Care Unit" at Texas Children's Hospital/Pavilion for Women.
Dr. Shamshirsaz's primary interests lie in the fields of Placenta Accreta, Critical Care, Point of Care Ultrasound, Cardiac Disease during Pregnancy and ECMO(Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) during Pregnancy. Furthermore he served on the Expert Panel for Obstetric Life Support (OBLS): Developmental Program focused towards Credentialing Specialists and First Responders specializing in Simulation-based Maternal Cardiac Arrest Program.
