Dr. Abu-Rustum currently serves as an Associate Professor and the Director of Ultrasound Services, Education & Research in the Division of MFM, Department of Ob/Gyn at the University of Florida (UF). She is ISUOG President-Elect, ISUOG Trustee, Past-Chair of ISUOG’s Basic Training Task Force and was ISUOG’s Ambassador to Lebanon and Outreach in the Middle East. She was an AIUM Board Member, Co-Chair of the AIUM Annual Convention Committee, Chair of the AIUM Clinical Content Task Force and Secretary of the AIUM Obstetric Community of Practice. She was a member of the SMFM Education and Global Health Committees. She is currently Vice-Chair of the SMFM Patient Education Committee. She was Co-Founder and President of SANA Medical NGO dedicated to obstetrical care within an outreach setting in Lebanon.
Dr. Abu-Rustum is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades. She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She received the Shield of Honor of the Lebanese Order of Physicians, the Shield of Honor of the Lebanese Society of Ob/Gyn and the Presidential Award of the AIUM. At UF, she received the Exemplary Teacher Award by the College of Medicine in 2019, 2020 and 2023, the J. Lee Dockery, MD Excellence in Teaching Award from the Department of Ob/Gyn in 2021, the CREOG National Award for Excellence in Resident Education in 2022 and the Clinical Excellence Award from the College of Medicine Council in 2023. She has a special interest in ultrasound, specifically the first trimester fetus and the fetal heart, ultrasound education and global outreach. She has served on two ISUOG outreach missions to Sudan and authored the text "A Practical Guide to 3D Ultrasound".
