Dr. Meaney-Delman received her combined BS and MD through a Scholars for Medicine Honors Program at the SUNY Stony Brook. She completed her OBGYN residency training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and an MPH at Georgia State University. After residency, Dr. Meaney-Delman joined a private practice affiliated with North Shore University Hospital. Sunsequently, she was on faculty at University of Texas-MD Anderson Department of Gynecology, Georgia State University and Emory University.
Dr. Meaney-Delman is the Chief of the Infant Outcomes Monitoring Branch in the Division of Birth Defects and Infant Disorders in the National Center for Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She founded the Emerging Threats to Mothers and Babies initiative which identifies and responds to emerging and reemerging infectious disease threats. Previously, she served as Senior Medical Advisor for Preparedness in the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases at CDC, where she worked to prepare the nation against infectious threats, developed clinical guidelines on anthrax, smallpox, Ebola, botulism, plague and Zika virus. She has authored over 70 peer-reviewed articles primarily focused on infectious diseases.
Dr. Meaney-Delman is an emergency response leader. She has served in key leadership roles in all CDC emergency responses since 2009. She led the Ebola Medical Care Task Force, the ZIka Pregnancy and Birth Defects Task Force, and CDCs 2019 Lung Injury Response. Most recently, she was the Principal Deputy Incident Manager and the Vaccine Task Force lead for the COVID-19 response. She is passionate about infectious diseases and their impact on women and infants.
Dr. Meaney-Delman practices general OBGYN as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Emory University. She holds board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
