Surgical Director of Fetal Care Center, Professor of Pediatric Surgery

Foong-Yen Lim, M.D., Professor of Surgery, Division of Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery; Surgical Director of Fetal Care Center, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Special interest: fetal and neonatal care and surgical management; congenital anomalies and fetal disorders (complex twins, TTTS, TRAP, TAPS, sIUGR, chorioangioma, amniotic band syndrome, MMC, cervical teratoma, CHAOS, TEF, CDH, CPAM/CCAM, fetal tumors, omphalocele, gastroschisis, in utero kidney failure, CAKUT). I have performed and been involved in more than 1,500 fetoscopic and open fetal surgeries, as well as many neonatal and pediatric interventions. I believe fetal surgery allows us to help babies affected by severe health conditions in a way that conventional therapy cannot. The fetal center team works hard to provide care for the best possible outcomes for our patients. This care includes offering education, outreach and research for our families and the community. I love working with babies and children. They’re fun, resilient and they make me a better person. I enjoy the priceless privilege of watching babies grow and develop, and following a patient from when they were a fetus into young adulthood.
