Virali Patel, BS is a second-year medical student at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College (SKMC) at Thomas Jefferson University. She earned her bachelor's in neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh. After graduating, she spent one year working as a clinical research coordinator in the Leukodystrophy Center of Excellence at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Currently, she conducts research with the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Department at Jefferson. Virali is involved in multiple research projects, with her primary project studying placental pathology in patients with COVID-19 infection during pregnancy. Outside of research, she is a clinic escort for Planned Parenthood of Southeaster Pennsylvania and vice president of Medical Students for Choice at SKMC. Virali hopes to pursue a research year before residency to enhance her research skills and work towards her future goal of practicing as a clinician-scientist.
