Dr. Megan Lord is a maternal fetal medicine physician at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia, USA. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Lord holds an academic appointment in the department of Preventive Health and Biostatistics at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, where she teaches in the graduate certificate program in global health. Dr. Lord received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of California at Davis, and her MD from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. She completed her OB/GYN residency at Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia, and her maternal fetal medicine fellowship at Women and Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, RI.
Dr. Lord’s research interests include perinatal risk stratification, obstetric hemorrhage (with a focus on early identification and early intervention, and blood transfusion in obstetrics), uses of novel technology to improve maternal outcomes, and development of low-cost simulation tools to enhance resident and fellow education. Her clinical interests include pregestational diabetes, placenta accreta spectrum, obstetric hemorrhage, and transfusion considerations in obstetric patients.
Dr. Lord’s research presented at the 43rd Annual Pregnancy Meeting was performed during her fellowship using patient data from Women and Infants Hospital.
