Dr. Kate Swanson completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago, majoring in Anthropology. She worked as a research assistant performing clinical research in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation prior to attending Northwestern University for medical school. She stayed on at Northwestern for her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology, then completed a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Medical Genetics at the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Swanson is now an Assistant Professor at UCSF, where she focuses her clinical time on pregnancies complicated by maternal or fetal genetic conditions as well as fetal anomalies. She serves as the Associate Program Director of the Medical Genetics Residency. She has three children, and has spent the summer improving her skills at the Swedish lawn game Kubb.
