Dotun Ogunyemi, MD is currently the Designated Institutional Officer for Graduate Medical Education (GME) and Associate Chief Medical Officer at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, Colton California. He completed a residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology (OBGYN) at King Drew Medical Center, Los Angeles, California, and a Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship (MFM) at David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA.
He was previously the Senior Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs and Chief Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer at the California of University of Science and Medicine. Prior, he was the residency program director, clerkship director and Vice-Chair of Education in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, California. In David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, he served as clerkship director, was on the Medical Education Curriculum committee and as Vice Chair of the Students Thesis program. In Michigan, he was the Vice Chair of Patient Safety, ACGME MFM fellowship program director and the director of research for students and residents in department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Beaumont Health.
His academic interests are in medical education, patient safety and quality improvement, wellness and diversity, inclusion, equity, and anti-racist education. Currently, he is on the editorial board of Journal of the Graduate Medical Education (JGME), and American Journal of Perinatology and a merit reviewer for PCORI. He is a member of ACOG Committee on Women’s Preventive Services Implementation, ACGME Clinical Learning environment review (CLER) voluntary site visitor, SMFM Emerging Leaders Program Advisory Group, ACGME Medically Underserved Areas/Populations Committee, the executive committee of the OBGYN section of National Medical Association, Chair of the Educational Council of the National Medical Association, Association of Professors of Obstetrics & Gynecology Diversity Task force, and the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Committee on Certification (COCERT). He has over 90 peer review publications.
