Torri Metz, MD, MS, is Vice-Chair for Research, Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division Chief and an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Utah Health. She is a practicing maternal-fetal medicine subspecialist. Dr. Metz completed both her medical school and residency training at the University of Colorado. She then went on to complete her Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship and Master of Science in Clinical Investigation at the University of Utah in 2012. Dr. Metz currently serves on the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM) Board of Directors, and is a member of the SMFM Document Review Committee. She is the Principal Investigator for the Utah Center of the NICHD Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network. She has NIH funding to study cannabis use in pregnancy and the effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection during pregnancy on mothers and offspring. Nationally, she serves as the Deputy Editor- Obstetrics for the Green Journal, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and is an American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology board examiner for subspecialty boards. She has received numerous teaching awards including the ACOG District VIII Mentor of the Year Award, and the National CREOG Award for Excellence in Resident Education.
