Dr. Eric Bergh hails from the East Coast and received his medical degree at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. He completed both a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, NY. He subsequently completed a fetal intervention fellowship at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), under the direction of Drs. Ramesha Papanna MD, Anthony Johnson DO, and Kenneth Moise Jr. MD.
Dr. Bergh's interests include operative fetoscopy, fetal transfusion and open fetal surgery. He has specialty training in fetal intervention for conditions including twin-twin transfusion syndrome, hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn, fetal spina bifida and other fetoscopic-based and needle-guided in-utero procedures.
Dr. Bergh serves on the medical staff of The Fetal Center at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital and the faculty of McGovern Medical School as an assistant professor in the division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He is actively involved in multiple research studies, including the development of novel techniques for fetoscopic membrane anchoring and the design and implementation of automated computer-based collection and analysis of long-term pediatric outcomes in children undergoing fetal surgery. In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Bergh's interests also include a passion for computer programming and data science.
