Dr. Geeta K. Swamy serves as Associate Vice President for Research for Duke University and Vice Dean for Scientific Integrity for Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Swamy works with leaders across campus to provide a consistent University vision for standards and expectations in integrity, transparency, and accountability in research administration, implementation, and compliance. She led the Duke University Health IRB through its third cycle with the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AHRPP) to “reaccreditation with distinction.” With the help of her team in the Duke Office of Scientific Integrity, she has executed an inventive University-wide program in Responsible Conduct in Research (RCR) training program for ALL faculty and staff engaged in research that includes interactive workshops, town halls, journal clubs, and online modules spanning beyond the traditional biomedical sciences to include Arts & Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities. She and her team have implemented institution-wide IT solutions and resources to aid research investigators in securely maintaining data provenance, transparency, and integrity in research and executed a unique quality monitoring program for all investigator initiated research. She is Vice Chair for Research and Faculty Development and an Associate Professor in Obstetrics & Gynecology in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Pittsburgh and a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Duke University. A highly accomplished clinician-scientist, Dr. Swamy specializes in perinatal infection and maternal immunization. She is the principal investigator on numerous grants from the NIH, CDC, and other funding sources and has published 150+ articles.
