Dr. Raneen Abu Shqara completed her medical studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She is a resident in OBGYN at Galilee medical center. She is a Clinical instructor in Azrieli Faculty of Medicine at Bar-Ilan University, Mentor to medical students in Obstetrics and gynecology clerkship, and lecturer in pre-clinical course: GRGD: Genetics, Reproduction, Growth and Development, Azrieli Faculty of Medicine, Bar Ilan University, Safed, Israel.
Dr. Abu Shqara conducts clinical research with focus on topics such as late diagnosis of GDM, the utility of performing late OGTT, comparison between women diagnosed with GDM in the second and the third trimester, and effect of obesity on late GDM diagnosis. Another focus of her studies is peripartum infections, prevalence of E. Coli in placental cultures of women with prolonged ROM, vertical transmission of Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase Producing Enterobacteriaceae during preterm and term deliveries and rates of positive uterine cultures in women with urgent cesarean sections and women with prolonged ROM. Those studies have been published in Microorganisms, American Journal of perinatology, International Journal of obstetrics and gynecology and others. Dr. Abu Shqara has recieved distinguished teaching awards from 2019-2022 and was also recently selected as a Representative of residents at the local Physicians' Committee, Western Galilee Hospital, Nahariya, Israel.
