Federica Bellussi is originally from Verona, Italy, from where she moved to the US in January 2020.
She attended medical school in the University of Bologna (Italy), where she did also the
residency in OBGYN as well as a PhD in perinatology. She has been trained for Labor and
Delivery in one of the biggest Maternity Unit in Europe (Dublin, Coombe Women and
Infant University Hospital), where she has worked as a Junior Registraar during her
residency.
She has worked as an Assistant Professor at the S. Orsola-Malpighi University Hospital of
Bologna from 2016 to 2020. She has been the education director for the Obstetrics
Medical Student Curriculum at the University of Bologna in Italy (one of the most
prestigious medical schools in Europe) and also the director of the Obstetric curriculum
for the Midwives. She has been a Research Collaborator at Thomas Jefferson University in
Philadelphia (PA) from 2020 to 2023 and she works now atthe Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in the Special Delivery Unit as an Obstetrician.
Federica Bellussi has authored over 70 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts, with an H
index of 19, in particular these publications have focused on the use of ultrasound in
labor and maternal fetal medicine. She is part of the Editorial Board of the American
Journal Obstetrics and Gynecology – Maternal Fetal Medicine. She is an Author for
UpToDate since 2018 as well. She has been nominated Associate Professor in Italy since
2020. She has spoken at international congresses, including being an invited speaker at
SMFM.
