Dr. Sciscione serves as a managing partner of the Delaware Center for Maternal Fetal Medicine of Christiana Care. He also is Director of the OB/GYN residency program for the Christiana Care Health System. Dr. Sciscione graduated from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1987 and completed his OB/GYN residency at Christiana Care Health System in 1992. After completing fellowship in MFM at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore, MD in 1994, he returned to Christiana Care Health System to serve as Director of Perinatal Research, in the Division of MFM. He remained with Christiana Care Health System for 9 years serving as Director of Research in the OB/GYN Department; Director of the Fetal Assessment Center; Associate Director and then Director of the OB/GYN Residency Program. From 2003 to 2006 he served as Director of the Division of MFM at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA, and then as chief of Obstetrics and director of the Division of MFM, at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, PA. He also held faculty positions at Johns Hopkins, Jefferson Medical College and Drexel University College of Medicine during this time. In 2006, Dr. Sciscione returned to Christiana Care Health System to serve as Director of the OB/GYN Residency Program and Director of MFM. Dr. Sciscione is board certified in both specialties of MFM and OB/GYN. He is also continuing as a professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Sciscione has served as principal and co-investigator on a number of national clinical studies and has published widely. His primary research interests are focused on the induction of labor and premature rupture of membranes. Recent projects include writing a book chapter on labor induction and evidence based medicine and co-editing a book on labor and delivery.
