As Senior Medical Officer for the Emergency Preparedness & Response Team in CDC's Division of Reproductive Health, Dr. Romeo Galang is a leader in addressing the unique needs of women and infants during disasters and public health emergencies. He has been a maternal and infant health expert in CDC's responses to Ebola, HIV, Zika, COVID-19, Monkeypox, and natural disasters, leading efforts to develop and implement evidence-based guidelines, tools, and trainings for health care providers and public health practitioners.
Dr. Galang is also a board-certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He maintains clinical practice and teaching roles at Grady Memorial Hospital and Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. He is passionate about advancing health equity and improving health outcomes for underserved and vulnerable populations. He holds degrees in medicine and public health from the University of Rochester and Tulane University, respectively, and completed residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology through Harvard University. He is also a graduate of CDC's Epidemic Intelligence Service, where he received training in applied epidemiology.
