My name is Joshua Nitsche, MD, PhD, and I am an Associate Professor in the Department of OB/GYN at Wake Forest School of Medicine. I attended Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, NJ and completed my OB/GYN residency and MFM fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. After graduation from fellowship, I joined the OB/GYN Department at Wake Forest School of Medicine and remain there today.
I currently serve as Associate Program Director of our Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship and lead the OB simulations for our department, which involve medical students, residents, fellows, and attending physicians. I am well versed in the discipline of medical education and have a consistent publication record of my educational research with numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals. I have mentored several medical students and residents, many of whom have appeared as authors on the publications.
As an MFM specialist, I have also have a strong interest in Complex Family Planning and insuring the women under my care receive comprehensive reproductive health care. To that end, I have served as the Ryan Residency Program Director at Wake Forest School of Medicine, and I am an alumnus of the Leadership Training Academy of Physicians for Reproductive Health. My academic interests lie in medical education and simulation, where I have worked to improve the training medical students, residents, and fellows receive in OB/GYN.
