Dr. Sparks, MD, MAS is an Associate Professor and a Maternal Fetal Medicine physician and Clinical Geneticist at the University of California, San Francisco. She completed her medical education at UCSF, her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Brigham & Women's Hospital / Massachusetts General Hospital combined program, and a combined fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine and Clinical Genetics at UCSF. Clinically, Dr. Sparks provides care for individuals whose pregnancies are complicated by fetal anomalies, fetal genetic diseases, genetic diseases in the pregnant individual, or other complications. She is the Program Director for the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship at UCSF and serves as the Medical Director for the Prenatal Diagnosis Center at UCSF Benioff Children's Physicians (UBCP). She is also a Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Investigator, an Investigator for the UCSF Center for Maternal-Fetal Precision Medicine, and serves as the alternate PI for the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units (MFMU) Network award at UCSF. Dr. Sparks' research is focused on developing a precision-based approach to care for non-immune hydrops fetalis (NIHF) and other fetal anomalies by performing genomic sequencing and other testing to discover the breadth of underlying causes, refining clinical testing algorithms, and developing novel in utero treatment approaches.
