Jessica George, MD, MPH completed a combined Maternal Fetal Medicine and Global Women’s Health Fellow as well as a Masters of Public Health student at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and has recently joined Northwestern University as a Maternal Fetal Medicine Faculty member. She has a background in education and taught high school science in low income communities in New Orleans, Louisiana, prior to medical school. This experience fueled her interest in health disparities work, ultimately leading to global health interests. Jessica has worked on multiple local and international projects to implement health programing during medical school, residency, and fellowship. While a resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UIC she developed relationships with partners in Ethiopia. She currently works with those partners in Ethiopia on improving health systems, perinatal health, and medical education. She hopes to combine her experience and training to ultimately improve access to specialty and subspecialty training curriculum in low and middle income countries. While doing this she also aspires to improve local access to care issues and enhance global health exposure through mindful curriculum and experiences for medical trainees in the United States.
