Adrian Hernandez Lopez, MD is a second-year maternal-fetal medicine fellow at the University of California, San Francisco. Adrian is a California native, born and raised in Los Angeles although his family roots are in Oaxaca, Mexico. He completed his undergraduate training at UCLA and obtained a Bachelor’s in Science in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics in 2014. During his undergraduate years, Adrian studied multiple pre-mRNA splicing factors, co-authored papers, and presented his work at national conferences. Adrian then went on to complete his medical degree at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in 2018. He completed his OBGYN residency at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center serving as the co-academic chief. During his residency training he published articles on fibroadenoma in ectopic breast tissue in the axilla and vulva, treatment of paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria in pregnancy with eculizumab, association between COVID-19 and adverse perinatal outcomes, and recurrence risk of hyperemesis gravidarum in subsequent pregnancies. In fellowship, Adrian hopes to broaden his clinic knowledge and conduct research in the field of Genetics and its interface with high-risk pregnancies, abortion care, and also ultrasound.
