Dr Nicola O'Riordan (BMed BSurg) is a specialist registrar in obstetrics and gynaecology working in the National Maternity Hospital, Dublin, Ireland. She has a special interest in labour ward management and is currently a PhD candidate with the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin, where her thesis is focusing on labour dystocia.
She has just completed a two year labour ward fellowship under the guidance of Professor Declan Keane and Dr Michael Robson in the National Maternty Hospital, Dublin.
Prior to commencing her career in obstetrics and gynaecology, Nicola was a hospital pharmacist with a masters degree in clinical pharmacy. This background gives the foundation to her interest in the use of oxytocin, its cumulative dosing and titration patterns- all topics covered in her recent PhD work.
