D’Angela Pitts is a Maternal Fetal Medicine physician, currently working at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, MI. She went to college at Grand Valley State University, where she studied biomedical sciences and criminal justice. She earned her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Howard University Hospital. She completed her maternal fetal medicine fellowship at University of Michigan. Her academic interests include maternal comorbidities with an emphasis on obesity and obstructive sleep apnea, health disparities and global health.
Dr. Pitts was the recipient of the Queenan Global Health Visiting Teaching Fellow award from the Foundation of Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine. She spent two months in Ghana during April and May 2019, giving lectures at the tertiary care centers on high risk obstetrics, conducting simulations and assisting with development of new maternal fetal medicine fellowships. She obtained a global health research certificate at University of Michigan. With a strong desire to remain in academics, Dr. Pitts is devoted to teaching medical students, residents and fellows.
She is an associate member of the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine, board certified fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and member of the National Medical Association.
In her spare time, she loves spending quality time with her family and friends, traveling and dancing. She also enjoys volunteering with her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. in her community.
