Pierluigi Di Vinci is a PhD candidate in Clinical and Experimental Medicine at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. He has completed his Master Degree studies in Molecular Biology and Genetics at the University of Pavia, Italy with a score of 104/110. In addition, he had the opportunity to do his internship at the University Hospital of Pavia for two years at the pediatric onco-hematology unit where he worked on the cell therapy field getting experience or flow cytometry analysis. This experience led him to perform an internship abroad at the Amsterdam Medical Center, where he increased his knowledge in flow cytometry analysis and cell culture.
Di Vinci began his PhD at the Modena University hospital, focusing on fetus health during pregnancy. He is investigating how metabolic abnormalities in placenta cells and tissue, affects fetus development in utero. During his PhD, he improved his laboratory skills in primary cell isolation, gene expression analysis and epigenetic regulation of placenta cells. The PhD course offers him the possibility to design clinical studies and improve his project management skills including working on the necessary paperwork to collect human samples. From the beginning of his studies, he focused on child and fetus health in both cancer and metabolic related conditions.
His main interests are related to deeply investigate in fetal development retardation due to metabolic and epigenetic abnormalities in utero and in the cell therapy field; in particular, working on immune system cells targeting blood tumor antigens in children. His laboratory experiences leads him to be passionate about these fields and after his PhD, he wants to continue his work to improve his knowledge, laboratory skills and learn new techniques.
