Dr. White VanGompel is a family physician and health services researcher focused on improving the quality, safety, and human-centeredness of reproductive healthcare throughout the life course. She completed an AHRQ T32 research fellowship in Quality, Safety, and Comparative Effectiveness Research Training at the University of California Davis, and certification in Dissemination and Implementation Science from the University of California San Francisco. She joined the University of Illinois at Chicago's Department of Family and Community Medicine as a Visiting Associate Professor in 2023. Dr. White VanGompel serves as PI on the AHRQ-funded grant, "Supporting Vaginal Birth in Illinois: the Role of Unit Culture," and works closely with the Illinois Perinatal Quality Collaborative in their Birth Equity and Supporting Vaginal Birth initiatives. She also facilitates the use of the Labor Culture Survey as a quality improvement tool for hospitals and statewide perinatal quality collaboratives across the U.S.
