Daniela Carusi, MD, MSc is an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Surgical Obstetrics and Abnormal Placentation Program at Brigham & Women's Hospital. She has been primarilty managing their patients with suspected or confirmed placenta accreta spectrum since 2005, and has built their multidisciplinary team. The progam has focused on an individualized care approach, including considerations of conservative management. The program has published multiple papers on delivery timing, mode of anesthesia, PAS risk facctors, and the role of assisted reproductive technologies.
Dr. Carusi is also a founder and Board member for the Pan American Society for Placenta Accreta Spectrum - a multinational group of PAS researchers and care providers that focuses on multicenter research and sharing of best practices. Most recnetly the BWH program has focused on specific mental health needs of PAS patients and biomarker discovery, as well as prediction of "atypical" cases and elucidation of risk factors.
