Fellow Physician
University of California Irvine
My name is Gina Milone, and I am a third year Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellow at the University of California, Irvine. I became interested in women's health, specifically during pregnancy, as a third year medical student, feeling that the opportunity to care for women during such a critical time in their lives is a privilege. My passion for high risk obstetrics grew early on in residency, and I am very much enjoying continuing my training and education now as a fellow.
Obstetricians have a unique opportunity to see women on a very regular basis, at a time in their lives when they may be motivated to make positive changes in their health and lifestyle. I am very interested in patient education, and how we can optimize this time to teach our patients in innovative ways, particularly through the use of technology.
Throughout fellowship, I have developed a particular interest in the prevention of preterm birth, particularly cervical length screening, the utility of cerclage placement, and management of periviability. I have very much enjoyed working with junior trainees teaching them how to counsel patients in these difficult scenarios, and I hope to add to the growing body of literature in our field to guide evidence-based practice in this realm.
