University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
My name is Caroline Smith, and I am an M.D. candidate at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. I am on a research year between my second and third year of medical education as part of the Physician Scientist Traning Program. My research focuses broadly on placenta immunology, mentored by Christina Megli, M.D., Ph.D. at the Magee Women’s Research Institute. I am currently working on a project characterizing the functional role of macrophages in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia. I plan to pursue a career as a physician scientist broadly focused in Women’s Health or the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology with a heavy emphasis on research.
