Dr. Michael Paidas is Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Chief of Service at University Health Tower and Jackson Health System.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Dr. Paidas, a Headmaster’s Scholarship recipient, earned his cum laude undergraduate degree from Fairfield University. He graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine, completed his residency at Pennsylvania Hospital, and did a Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship at Mount Sinai. After roles at Tufts and NYU, he joined Yale in 2002, holding various positions for 16 years, including Professor and Vice Chair of obstetrics. He served as Interim Director of the Maternal Fetal Medicine Section and Interim MFM Section Chief at Yale New Haven Hospital.
CLINICAL AND RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Paidas, a maternal-fetal medicine clinician scientist, specializes in reproduction, perinatal medicine, and hemostasis. An international authority with 157 peer-reviewed articles, he led groundbreaking research on preterm preeclampsia (PRESERVE-1) and PreImplantation Factor (PIF) for over two decades. During COVID-19, his team developed SPIKENET, a patented therapeutic agent.
SELECTED HONORS
Dr. Paidas, honored for clinical excellence, received awards at Yale and Tufts. In the top 1% nationally, he served on boards, including the National Hemophilia Foundation, and co-chaired Thrombosis and Hemostasis Societies, leading their 2016 and 2018 Summits.
