Dr. Margaret Adgent is a research associate professor in the Department of Health Policy at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is an epidemiologist with primary research interests in characterizing prenatal and pediatric exposures and their related health effects, particularly in the context of exploring developmental origins of disease. Dr. Adgent's current research activities include investigation of maternal risk factors for pediatric asthma, including prenatal nutrition, stress, pregnancy complications and exposure to environmental contaminants. She also contributes to pharmacoepidemiology research efforts related to prescription medication use during and after pregnancy. Dr. Adgent received her PhD in epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2010) and completed her postdoctoral training the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, NIH, before joining VUMC faculty in 2016.
