Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, India
I, Dr Seema Chopra, am consultant (Professor) OBG, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh, India. Mine is a tertiary care institute catering to high-risk cases from many neighboring states. Obstetrics being my favorite, am looking after pregnant women with medical and surgical disorders, as well as cardio-obstetrics. I have many publications to my credit about the successful feto-maternal outcome in such high-risk pregnancies. Renal disorders, CKD, AKI in pregnancy is another favorite area of research for me. I have carried out research work as part of PG thesis, and publications related to it. Recently, I could successfully manage a woman with simultaneous pancreas kidney transplant with a healthy neonate born by LSCS. Around 15 Renal transplant recipients also have delivered at my institute in last 10 years. Cardiac diseases- congenital as well rheumatic is another area of obstetrics requiring careful management in pregnancy, are being looked after in our special clinic.
We have full support of specialists in different areas which helps us have a multidisciplinary team management for an optimal outcome. Prenatal invasive procedures -amniocentesis, CVS, RFA, IUT are also performed at my center as a teamwork. Placenta accreta spectrum with its inherent difficult surgical complications are regularly managed at my center.
Teaching and training post graduate students makes me stay up-to-date with literature and learn a few things from them too. “Endometriosis-An enigma “is my first attempt to add a book to my list of publications, in addition to being author of chapters in various books, around 100 publications in national and international journals, presentations at conferences.
I sincerely hope to gain a lot by being associated with SMFM, share my experiences and learn new things at international level.
