LT David Monroe, MD, MPH, is an Undersea Medical Officer (UMO) in the United States Navy. He received his BA from Duke University and his MD and MPH from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his internship in Gynecologic Surgery & Obstetrics at Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD). He worked as a General Medical Officer (GMO) at Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) school where he managed injuries sustained during US Navy SEAL training. He then graduated from Naval Diving and Salvage Training Command (NDSTC) in Panama City, FL, as a US Navy Diver and graduated from the Naval Undersea Medical Institute (NUMI) as an Undersea Medical Officer. His current role includes medical care and optimization for US Navy submariners, divers, and special operators. He is an affiliate researcher in the Obstetrics & Gynecology Department at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU).
