Implementation science is the study of methods to promote the systematic uptake of evidence-based practices into routine care. Implementation science tries to address the significant gap between interventions that research has shown to be effective and their delivery to patients. For the 2nd year of the Implementation Science in Obstetrics Scientific Forum at SMFM 2024, we will focus on the science of de-implementing low value care and showcase applications of de-implementation in obstetrics. Priorities for de-implementation in maternal health that will be addressed include de-implementing unnecessary cesarean delivery, oxygen supplementation for Category II fetal heart rate tracings, overuse of alarms on labor and delivery, and more.
